Measuring Quality

Why do we measure our performance in caring for patients? At The Aroostook Medical Center (TAMC), we are committed to providing the highest quality healthcare for our patients. You can be sure you are receiving the best care because we set goals that are at or above national standards!

Across the nation, hospitals and healthcare providers are paying close attention to quality improvement. Such data is reported to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The Core Measures shown on this site are data that we report to CMS. You will also see how our patients feel about our care, and how we measure our patient safety.

There are a number of ways to look at quality, and you may see these descriptions on other websites. Some facilities may use service quality and clinical quality as ways to differentiate types of care. Many organizations, including the Maine Quality Forum, define quality as safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable. You can read more at the Maine Quality Forum website.

On this website you will find information not only on our performance, but we also show how we compare to other healthcare providers in Maine and from a national perspective.
We invite you to review our quality data by clicking on Core Measures, Infection Prevention and Control, Patient Safety and Patient Satisfaction. From our home page, you can see how our results are scored by other quality organizations and how we compare to other hospitals.
