Telemedicine is a great tool that allows for specialty services to expand into rural areas, but sometimes the reverse is true and a quality service in a rural area can be expanded into a more populated area.  That is just the case of what happened in March with TAMC’s Sleep Medicine practice.

03/10 TAMC teams with Maine Ag Women to host County Women’s Health Conference on April 8

TAMC has once again teamed with Maine Agri-Women (MAW) to offer a free community program designed to educate and bring awareness to women’s issues. The second annual County Women’s Health Conference will be held at the conference center at TAMC’s A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital on Saturday, April 8, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

03/06 Moms having a cesarean section at TAMC still have opportunity for active role in childbirth

In recent years, studies have shown what mothers have probably known all along, that it is best for moms and babies to stay together after birth.  Going hand-in-hand with that understanding is the trend in recent years for more family-centered birth experiences.  However, for mothers who have their baby surgically delivered, these experiences have not typically been an option in the past.

03/03 TAMC partners with UMPI for March 27 Healthy Aging Event

TAMC and the University of Maine at Presque Isle will partner to host this month’s Community Lunch and Learn/Healthy Aging Luncheon on Monday, March 27 at 11:00 a.m. at UMPI’s Campus Center.  The keynote presenter for the event will be Anthony Briscoe, TAMC speech/language pathologist lead, who will discuss problems with swallowing as a person ages.

02/24 TAMC takes part in DAISY Award program to recognize extraordinary nurses

Nurses at The Aroostook Medical Center will have an opportunity to be recognized individually for outstanding service thanks to a national program through the DAISY Foundation in which the healthcare organization is now taking part.  The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day.

TAMC is staying true to the mission of its Fit & Fun Series by helping to sponsor several winter events during February school vacation that are low cost and also encourage residents to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
