As the summer draws to a close and the fall season will soon be upon us, plans are well underway for the 2016 TAMC Health Fair. This year will be a departure from how it has been offered in recent years.

Katahdin Trust Donates $25,000 to County Dialysis Center
Katahdin Trust Company has donated $25,000 to help upgrade the County Dialysis Center facility and equipment that allows patients from County hospitals to receive local care close to home.
First Aroostook County Autism Conference set for October 7
Family members, educators and professionals who live and work with autistic individuals will soon have the opportunity to gain valuable resources and greater understanding of the individuals we aim to support thanks to the grassroots efforts of the Aroostook Autism Support Group. The first Aroostook County Autism Conference takes place on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
TAMC, MSAD 42 and ACAP partner to offer CNA course locally
Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) are in demand across the region, and three local organizations have joined forces to bring an affordable training opportunity to interested individuals. The Aroostook Medical Center (TAMC), MSAD #42 Adult Education and the Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP) are partnering to offer a three month CNA course that begins October 4.
REDY Youth Triathlon planned for September; training session planned for August 14
Organizers of the REDY Youth Triathlon are making preparations for the event held exclusively for the area’s youngest triathletes. In order to make this event accessible to all youth who want to participate, for the first time the registration fee has been set at $10.
TAMC earns 4 stars in the new CMS rating system
Yesterday, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released results of their new Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating that reflects comprehensive quality information about the care provided at hospitals nationwide. TAMC earned 4 stars, the highest rating of any Maine hospital.
TAMC nurses return to work
Unionized nurses at TAMC returned to work on Sunday morning, July 24, after striking for 48 hours at the Presque Isle hospital. Patient care was not interrupted during the strike, according to Jay Reynolds, MD, chief medical officer.
TAMC takes steps to ensure patient care and safety during nurses strike
Officials at The Aroostook Medical Center shared with the public that the hospital will continue to provide safe, quality patient care, uninterrupted, while nurses at the Presque Isle hospital take part in a two day strike.
