06/09 Children’s playhouse newest addition to memorial garden; plots available in community garden

Representatives from The Aroostook Medical Center and the town of Fort Fairfield have been working jointly for the last few years on a Community General Hospital Legacy Project that has brought both a memorial garden and a community garden to the site of the former hospital in Fort Fairfield.  The work has been spearheaded by members of the CGH Legacy Project Committee.

06/05 Olore honored as extraordinary nurse at TAMC; presented the hospital’s first DAISY Award

One nurse at The Aroostook Medical Center recently had the distinction of being named the very first DAISY Award recipient at the Presque Isle hospital. The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day.

06/02 Presque Isle Historical Society to give presentation on Alice Kimball

The Aroostook Medical Center and the Presque Isle Historical Society will team up once again to bring alive a piece of Aroostook County history through the Society’s quarterly presentations.  On Wednesday, June 7, participants will learn more about a local woman, Alice Kimball, who left quite a legacy for our community.

05/26 Knights of Columbus donates funds to support TAMC Rehabilitation & Therapy Services

TAMC’s Rehabilitation and Therapy Services recently received funds raised through the Program for People with Disabilities (formerly called Tootsie Roll Drive). The fundraising effort is led by the local councils of Maine State Council Knights of Columbus.

05/23 Men’s Health Seminar to be held June 13 at TAMC

A free community program designed specifically for men to provide education and awareness a number of health issues is set for the conference center at TAMC’s A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, June 13, beginning at 5:30 p.m.  This third annual Men’s Health Seminar features a new format and new presenters.

05/22 Aroostook Savings & Loan donates funds for County Dialysis Center

Aroostook Savings & Loan has donated $25,000 to the County Dialysis Center capital campaign in recognition of the difficulties faced by those in our area who battle kidney failure.  The Presque Isle center is operated by The Aroostook Medical Center and serves patients throughout Aroostook County.

05/09 Aroostook Youth Tri Club Begins May 12

The Aroostook Medical Center and the University of Maine at Presque Isle have once again teamed up to bring a fun event to The County this summer. The Aroostook Youth Triathlon is set for June 17, 2017 on the UMPI campus. To help area youth get ready for the big event, an Aroostook Youth Tri Club is getting underway on Friday, May 12.

05/05 Local leaders help guide The County’s largest healthcare organization

Two Presque Isle business and community leaders were recently selected to serve on the Board of Trustees for The Aroostook Medical Center.  Jane Towle and Scott Violette, both of Presque Isle, are the newest members of the governing body of northern Maine’s largest non-profit organization and the region’s largest employer.

04/18 Parents form new support group for families of children with Type 1 Diabetes

Two local mothers have joined forces to form a new support group, Touched by Type 1 in The County, to help both the children and adults in families that have a child diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.  The group is getting organized and is already planning their first event on Saturday, April 29.
