Naseri joins team at Aroostook Cancer Care
Dr. Hussain Naseri, a medical oncologist, has joined the team at TAMC’s Aroostook Cancer Care. He is helping to provide full spectrum cancer and blood disorder care to patients throughout Aroostook County.
TAMC’s Acute Rehab Unit holds emotional reunion for staff and patients
National Rehabilitation Awareness Week was the week of September 18. On Wednesday, September 21, the staff at TAMC’s Acute Rehabilitation Unit held an emotional reunion with some former patients at the TAMC Conference Center in Presque Isle and it proved to be just what the doctor ordered.
Gregory T. LaFrancois is New TAMC President
EMHS president and CEO, M. Michelle Hood, FACHE is pleased to announce that Gregory T. LaFrancois, CPA, MHA, FACHE, has been selected as the new president of TAMC. In this role, LaFrancois will also serve as a senior vice president of EMHS. Located in Presque Isle, TAMC is EMHS’ northernmost member.
TAMC Health Fair to take place October 15
Staff from The Aroostook Medical Center are planning their annual free health fair for community members on Saturday, October 15. The event, featuring a wide offering of screenings and information to help people stay healthy and well, takes place at Northern Maine Community College gymnasium from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
September is Childhood Cancer Month – Fort Kent girl shows ‘Courage in The County’
September is “Childhood Cancer Month,” and for one Aroostook County family it’s been a rough four years. In 2012, Kearston Albert of Fort Kent could not shake a fever. She was not able to get rid of simple infections. After several doctor visits she had a series of blood tests, which revealed that Kearston had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She was rushed to Bangor and began treatment immediately.
County Dialysis Center Hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Mark Official Opening
The County Dialysis Center, the only kidney dialysis service in Aroostook County and the only not- for-profit center in Maine, held a ribbon cutting and open house yesterday with patients, health care providers and business and community leaders at its expanded and updated facility located at the North Street Healthcare in Presque Isle.
TAMC flu shot clinics announced for fall 2016; free high dose vaccines for seniors added
TAMC officials are planning six upcoming free seasonal flu shot clinics in central Aroostook County to get as many community members vaccinated as possible. The health care provider will offer three traditional walk-in clinics, including one for pediatric patients, and three of its popular drive-up clinics. New this year, those 65 and older will be able to get a free high dose flu shot.
Houlton man can walk again; will share his experience with others at TAMC’s Acute Rehab Reunion
Two years ago Eric Schools of Houlton was vacationing with his family in Old Orchard Beach. They had rented a house and were making the most of their time together. On the third night, August 11, 2014, Eric’s left leg began to feel heavy; like it was falling asleep. He had done a lot of walking that day and thought it might just be fatigue so he decided to go lay down. He couldn’t know that this family trip would change his life forever.
County Dialysis Center Hosts Open House
The County Dialysis Center, the only kidney dialysis service in Aroostook County and the only not- for-profit center in Maine, announced today a ribbon cutting and open house will take place at its expanded and updated facility. The public is invited to the event on Thursday, September 22
from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at North Street Healthcare in Presque Isle and will include refreshments and guided tours of the Center.
Change in agreement between Crown and City of Presque Isle brings changes down the road
A collaborative agreement between TAMC and the City of Presque Isle regarding ambulance service expires on Thursday, September 15, and there are no plans to renew the agreement at this time, based on the City’s plans to create its own 911 service.
