Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab

TAMC Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation helps each patient onto the path of recovery by focusing on the individual rehab needs of each patient. Our rehab team provides comprehensive services for cardiac and pulmonary health, rehabilitation, and secondary prevention. Our team of registered nurses, licensed clinical social worker, dietitians, physical therapist, and medical director provide patients with the appropriate skills and information to reduce changeable risk factors with the intent of achieving or regaining an active, productive lifestyle.

Qualifying Diagnoses for Cardiac Rehab:
• Acute Myocardial Infarction
• Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
within past year
• Valve Replacement/Repair
• Angioplasty
• Stable Angina
• Stable Chronic Heart Failure
(EF < 35% and NYHA Class II-IV Symptoms)

Qualifying Diagnoses for Pulmonary Rehab:
• Obstructive Diseases:*
-Alpha I Antitrypsin Deficiency -Asthma
-Bronchiectasis -Bronchitis
-Cystic Fibrosis -Emphysema
• Restrictive Diseases:
-Interstitial Diseases -Chest Wall Disease
-Neuromuscular Diseases
• Lung Surgery
*COPD patients need to have PFT done within 3 months
prior to starting PR to prove they meet the definition of
COPD Gold Classification II, III, or IV.
We assist patients with cardiac or lung disease
improve quality of life by customizing a programfor the individual patient including:

• Education on cardiac risk factors and how to
make life style changes to modify them; or
education on lung disease process, energy
conservation, medications, breathing techniques
and much more.
• Aerobic exercise and resistance training in
a safe atmosphere. We monitor the patient via
telemetry, vital signs, assess patient cardiac
and pulmonary status as well as any subjective
symptoms they are having.
• Emotional support for patients with one-onone
education on coping as well as group
sessions to let them know they are not alone.
• Close interaction with Primary Care Providers
to coordinate care for dietary, depression,
stress and general care.
