Sylvia Getman

Sylvia Getman has served as President and CEO of The Aroostook Medical Center since August 2010. She also serves as Senior Vice President of EMHS. Prior to coming to TAMC, she was the President and CEO of Nantucket Cottage Hospital, from 2007 to 2010. She also served as Chief Executive Officer of Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, Iowa and as a Vice President for Network Systems for Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa. While in Iowa, Ms. Getman was the Project Director for the EHR10 Electronic Health Record Project for Mercy Medical Center and eight rural hospitals.

Ms. Getman earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has a long history of volunteerism and commitment to community organizations, especially in the area of healthcare advocacy and economic development. She is a board member of the Maine Hospital Association, serves on the Maine Hospital Association Policy Committee, is Vice Chair of Aroostook Partnership for Progress, and is a Workforce Investment board member. She is also a member of the Presque Isle Rotary Club, University of Maine Foundation, serves as an alternate for the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board and is one of 20 2013/2014 AHA Healthcare Transformation Fellows.

Previously, she served as President of the District B of the Iowa Hospital Association and an Iowa Gubernatorial appointee to the Regional Workforce Development Board. She has also volunteered with Rotary, Meals on Wheels, The Girl Scouts, Clear Lake Public Schools, Ventura Public Schools, and as a strategic planning and board development consultant with the United Way of North Iowa.

Ms. Getman, her husband Bill, and their three sons Bill Jr., Christopher, and Jamison make their home in Mars Hill.
